These slides are also portable – you can share on your iPad. The Fry word list contains the 1,000 most used words in writing and reading. Whole Group Instruction If you like to review sight words as a class, try these slides! You can display the slides on your interactive board so that all students can easily see the words. These slides are great because there is a single word instead of a busy paper with 100 words. Students can read from the slide instead of a smaller list. How Can These Slides be Used?Īssessment These can be used to assess students in person or virtually. The slides will transition every three seconds. Sight words should not be taught at all in a pure phonics program that teaches by sound. Of these 12 Fry sight words, 9 are completely phonetic and the other 3 have simple exceptions. The PowerPoints cover the first 300 sight words. The Fry 100 sight words or 'instant words' are also commonly taught, and all but 12 of them are contained on the Dolch list. You will find the words in groups of 100. Often kindergarten and first grade teachers work on the first list.
